My best accomplishments have been the result of curating high performing teams, recognizing and attracting talent, building trust, & accommodating needs. I have been an early adopter of playing to people's strengths.
Once you have joined my team, I work hard to build connections between you and I, and you and your peers. I encourage truth telling, being human, and caring.
I chose the word, "curating" with intention. A great team member is worth investing in with training, education, playing to strengths, and building a journey to mastery and autonomy.
Supporting a high performer is less about managing and more about framing; defining goals, establishing safe zones, facilitating solutions, and confirming alignment with organizational and personal values.
An adaptable planning process is key when bringing out the best in talented teams. I support my people with plan development, prediction of outcomes, tracking of milestones, and response to changing circumstances.
Early in my career I was taught that the role of management is to get the "stuff" out of people's way so they can do their jobs. As a servant-leader, I empower people to make decisions and deliver results by providing them with resources and decision support, celebrating failure, and rewarding success.
Guidance and support are always there when you know you need it and ask for help. More importantly, and a true sign of JD's attentiveness, is that the same can be said for his commitment to providing guidance and support when you are not sure that you need it and fail to ask for help.
A true expert in distribution, sales, and marketing, JD is without question one of the most well-rounded executives I have ever had the pleasure of working with in my 20 year career.
John blends an affable personality with the technical knowledge of a true expert in his field. This combination makes him extremely effective at getting tasks accomplished, and in the period he worked for me he made significant improvements in our processes.
Over the years I have kept in touch with John, and often bounce ideas off him on problems I am encountering in the logistics area. There are not many with such a breadth of knowledge and experience of both distribution methodologies and the supporting systems.

But beyond that he’s fair and flexible. He engages and listens to those around him with regard and respect, and provides them with the support to get their jobs done. I had the pleasure of working with John at SYNAVANT/Clark-O’Neill. John’s managerial ability, foresight and knowledge were highly respected by the Sr. Leadership Team. He is a common sense leader who leads by example. He values exceptional client service and a strong collaborative team. His desire for continuous improvement was evident as he developed processes and procedures to support programs his team had to deliver. He frequently researched other industries and sought best practices to support his area of the business resulting in innovative processes and an engaged team.
JD is a C-Level communicator that connects with every level team member and personality with an honesty and humanity that is refreshing. JD’s knowledge of operations, IT, sales & marketing, financial, as well as the service side of the business provides him with a valuable understanding of what makes business work and what makes it profitable. JD creates an inclusive and enjoyable working environment, where ideas are valued. He is supportive and sets expectations. His knowledge and understanding of lean concepts and Kaizen assure the path of the customer journey is delightful and shifts to meet the next level needed.
I worked for (and with) JD for over two years. His strategic organizational and planning process skill ensured every opportunity did not pass us by.
JD remained current on sales planning process. He is not afraid to "tweak" a program to best fit an individual's development path.
